FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt - overtime pursuant to Collective Bargaining Agreement or Human Resources and Labor Relations Policy
EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to probationary period
CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The starting time for this position is 8:00am – 4:30pm.
GENERAL SUMMARY
Identifies community health concerns and assists in the planning, implementing and evaluating applicable programs. Develops, edits and evaluates education materials. Prepares and disseminates health care information. Assists in the development of health education programs and policies. Attends and participates in professional meetings and conferences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Identifies, develops, implements, and evaluates health promotion and education programs, presentations, and initiatives based on community need and evidence based practices.
Programs may include, but are not limited to: Child Passenger Safety, Contraception, Tobacco Prevention and Cessation, Sexually Transmitted Disease prevention, and Healthy Kids Healthy Hearts.
Serves as an American Heart Association Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation instructor for Macomb County employees and outside agencies as needed.
Plans health fairs and other community events such as: Women’s Wellness Day, Child Passenger Safety/Inspection events, National Public Health Week, Family Fun Fitness Day.
Prepares and disseminates information about heath care education programs through social media, press releases, print materials, and display boards.
Attends professional meetings and conferences.
Performs grant research, implementation, and evaluation for Health Care Education Programs.
Operates an automobile while performing assigned duties.
Performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Health Education, Community Health, or related field
  • One (1) year of related work experience in Assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating health programs
Required Licenses or Certifications
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Health Education, Community Health, or related field
